FIFA Council Unanimously Confirms Spain, Portugal, and Morocco as 2030 World Cup Hosts

The global governing body officially ratifies the historic cross-continental alliance as sole organizers for the Centenary FIFA World Cup.

ZURICH, Switzerland β€” In a landmark decision commemorating one hundred years since the inaugural tournament in Uruguay, the FIFA Council has unanimously confirmed the joint bid from Spain, Portugal, and Morocco as the sole hosts for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The decision marks a historic milestone in international sport, establishing the first World Cup tournament to be hosted across two continents. In celebration of the tournament's 1930 centenary, opening commemorative matches will take place in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, before the entire tournament arrives on Iberian soil for sixty-four matches across Spain and Portugal.

FIFA officials underscored that the joint bid presented an unmatched technical score, driven by cutting-edge rail transit, zero requirement for white-elephant construction, and decades of elite sporting event management experience. The Iberian-Moroccan partnership will deliver the most compact, high-capacity, and technologically sophisticated tournament ever staged.
