Historical Legacy

Inaugurated in October 1944 right on the Atlantic coastline of Riazor beach, this ground hosted three group games during the 1982 FIFA World Cup (Cameroon, Poland, Peru). In the late 1990s and early 2000s, it was the legendary fortress of "Super Dépor," witnessing historic Champions League victories against AC Milan, Juventus, and Arsenal.

Architectural Innovation

The stadium is undergoing an ambitious modernization for 2030, raising its capacity from 32,490 to 48,000 spectators by adding a continuous upper ring. The design incorporates a sweeping, wind-deflecting roof canopy that evokes the nautical sails of the Galician maritime fleet while protecting fans from Atlantic breezes.

World Cup 2030 Roadmap

Riazor represents the historic Atlantic gateway of Spain for the 2030 World Cup, staging group stage and knockout round fixtures in one of northern Spain's most passionate football strongholds.
