Historical Legacy
Inaugurated in September 1941, La Rosaleda ("The Rose Garden") is steeped in romantic football lore. It was a proud host stadium during the 1982 FIFA World Cup, staging dramatic clashes featuring the Soviet Union, Scotland, and New Zealand. Later, it became the crucible for Málaga CF's thrilling run to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in 2013.
Architectural Innovation
The 2030 redevelopment will add a third tier around the perimeter, boosting capacity to 45,000 seats. A lightweight parametric wave roof will evoke the Mediterranean shoreline while reflecting thermal heat, complemented by public leisure plazas and rooftop observation decks overlooking the Guadalmedina river.
World Cup 2030 Roadmap
Málaga is Spain’s booming tech and cultural gateway in the south. With Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport handling over 22 million passengers annually, La Rosaleda will serve as a vibrant fan festival hub for group stage matches and knockout encounters.
